AIM: The programme aims to inculcate social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. it also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food,clothing and first aid to the disaster victims.
The vision of the National Service Scheme (NSS) is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our Nation. The motto of N.S.S ” Not me but you” reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the student’s development and appreciation to other person’s point of view and show consideration towards other living beings. The aim behind the program of NSS is to offer help to everyone who needs it, to enhance and bring a better change is the standard of living and the way they lead their life with dignity. National Service Scheme is beneficial for both the students as well as the society in various means. Our college has set an unbreakable record by winning numerous time THE BEST COLLEGE AWARD from NSS Department of Punjabi University Patiala. Dr. Jagdeep Kaur and Principal Dr. Sarbjit Singh Kular also uplift the prestige of Best Program officer. Many of our volunteers have also participated in NYC, High tracking camp, Pre-RD and RD Camps.

NCC

Guru Gobind Singh College, Sanghera is a premium college in the region. The NCC cadets of GGSC Sanghera are enrolled under the 20 PB BN NCC, Bathinda. The Motto of NCC is Unity & Discipline. NCC play a creditable and crucial role in shaping the character of our youth by instilling the values of patriotism, service, discipline and hard work . Currently, the NCC unit has vacancy of 55 cadets including Senior Division and Senior Wing. During the course, it helps to develop the quality character, courage, leadership, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship. Moreover, NCC develops the ideals of selfless service among the youth. Along with PI staff, ANO of the college visit the ground to ensure the proper functioning of the drill parades. They interact with cadets regularly and solve the problems. Students brought up like cadets and build good friendship with other cadets. In NCC, Camps always remains exciting for the cadets and it plays very important role in transforming the cadet’s life. Because, NCC cadets follow real schedule of a defence personnel in the camp. In every year, Our NCC cadets participated in numerous camps like Annual Training Camp, Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, Thal Sainik Camp, Attachments Camp, Advance Leadership Camp, Para Basic Camp, Republic Day Camp, and Youth Exchange Programme. Along with this, NCC unit organize some more extra-curricular activities like nukkad-nataks, awareness rallies, lectures for the NCC cadets. Thus, NCC cherish the persona of the cadets and provides Job opportunities to ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate holder. Moreover, such Cadets can appear directly in the SSB Interviews.

Youth Welfare / Empowerment Club

Youth Welfare Clubs are established in colleges. The main aim of these clubs is to promote personality development, leadership qualities, and a sense of social responsibility among students. These clubs help students become confident and responsible citizens. Since 2023, such clubs have been started in all colleges of Punjab with the support of the government.

Objectives of the Club:
1. To involve students in social activities like cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, tree plantation, and awareness campaigns.
2. To motivate students to contribute towards the development of Punjab and society.

Activities of the Club:
1. Organizing seminars, workshops, and awareness programs in colleges and nearby areas.
2. Conducting activities like cleanliness drives, tree plantation, blood donation camps, and other social service programs.
3. Organizing rallies and awareness campaigns.
4. Encouraging students to participate in social welfare activities.
5. Promoting leadership and teamwork among students.
6. Creating awareness about social issues.

Red Ribbon Club:
Red Ribbon Clubs are formed under health-related programs (National AIDS Control Program). The purpose of this club is to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, blood donation, and health issues. These clubs organize awareness campaigns, seminars, and blood donation camps. They also encourage students to participate in health-related activities and promote social responsibility.

Cultural Activities

Cultural activities are organized in colleges to encourage students’ talents and participation in co-curricular activities. These activities help in the overall development of students.

Levels of Cultural Activities

College Level:
1. Colleges organize cultural programs and competitions at their own level.
2. Inter-state cultural competitions are also organized.
3. Students participate in inter-university competitions.
4. In North Zone inter-university competitions, winning teams represent their universities.

University Level:
1. Punjab’s inter-university competitions include singing, dancing, and other cultural events.
2. Inter-zone competitions are organized at different levels.
3. Inter-zone youth festivals are held.
4. Winners of these competitions get opportunities at higher levels.
