Government Aided College
The people of Sanghera, its surrounding villages and Barnala had long felt the need for a rural degree college. In response, the Gram Panchayat of Sanghera donated land and formed the Guru Gobind Singh College Trust Sanghera in 1969. Guru Gobind Singh College was established in July 1972 on the Barnala–Ludhiana Road, approximately 2 km from Barnala. In 1984 (Regd. No. KC/691-83-84) a separate managing committee was constituted to strengthen the institution.
The college offers degree-level instruction and active NCC and NSS units, organizes major and minor games for boys and girls, and supports a range of cultural and literary societies. The college publishes an annual magazine, Patrika, and students are eligible for university and government scholarships.
The institute focuses on uplifting rural and reserved-category students, providing remedial classes and prioritized learning support to help them compete in modern society. The college’s NSS unit has earned awards from Punjabi University, Patiala, and frequently represents Punjab at national parades.
